Chana Chaat (Indian Chickpea Salad)

A quick and easy recipe of Chana Chaat (Indian Chickpea Salad) is both tasty and healthy.

Definitely, one of my go to recipes for the days I’m not too excited about cooking. In under 15 mins, you can have a flavorful mix of protein rich chickpeas and tomato-onions, garnished with fresh coriander and mint leaves, and lemon juice enhancing all the spices. Ingredients:
15 oz. can OR 2 cups of cooked garbanzo chickpea
1 medium tomato, finely chopped
1 small to medium onion, finely chopped
1-2 green chillies, finely chopped
2-3 tbsp  fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped
2-3 tbsp fresh mint leaves, finely chopped
Juice of 1 lime
1 tsp chaat masala
1 tsp amchur powder (dry mango powder)
1/2 tsp red chilly powder, optional
1/2 tsp garam masala, optional
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste

Method:
1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl and give it a good mix. Adjust the seasoning according to your taste.

Recipe Tips:
1. You can cook the chickpeas by soaking in water overnight and then cooking in a pressure cooker for 10-12 whistles. Drain the water and rinse before use. Alternatively, use canned chickpeas and rinse in water before use.
2. You can toast the chickpeas on stovetop or oven too if you like them crunchy.
